Photography as meditation
Sunday evening, 23:30, Brussels.
A man holding two ballons, one for his girlfriend. They were witnessing this beautiful light installation, at the Brussels Light Festival. The smoke, the color (no Photoshop), the lights, the balloons, the magical and mysterious atmosphere… Yes, this is already one of my favorite pictures of 2019!
Long story : It was Sunday. I had worked the whole day on a project. I was nervous, unable to go to sleep, and needed to take some fresh air. It was also the last evening of the Brussels Light Festival. So I grabbed my camera, put on a vintage lens, and took the metro at 21:30 to the centrum. I could only witness three light installations, but boy, was it worth it! I walked around during almost two hours, taking pictures, sometimes waiting 15-20 minutes for someone to walk by in just the right way to get the perfect unexpected shot.
It felt like meditation. No worries, no thoughts about the project or my to-do list… Nothing. Just me, my camera, and Brussel. It was the perfect way for me to change my mind and get a breath of fresh air. I also took a few shots I really love; I will be sharing them during the following weeks.
